Terms of Service

As with any business, there is an element of risk associated with dealing with clients and their belongings. And as with any activity, there is risk of injury to persons or property. That is why we carry the best insurance tailored to our industry. There are certain requirements for engaging our services and exclusions as to what we will handle.

Homeowners' Insurance

We require that you have a homeowners’ insurance policy in force to cover the contents of your home, and that your policy be the primary policy for any property damage claim, and not that of Serene Transitions.

Items we do not handle

We are fully licensed and insured to handle most of your belongings as we prepare you for a move. There are, however, some items we will not handle, and you must either pack and transport them yourself or make other arrangements for them. These exclusions include:

  • Firearms and ammunition (contact local police department for guidance)

  • Swords and other weaponry (contact local police department for guidance)

  • Cash, checks, and credit cards

  • Stocks and bonds

  • Jewelry, including precious and semi-precious stones

  • Precious and semi-precious metals

  • Coin, stamp, or other such collections

  • Illegal drugs of any kind

  • Medication

  • Pets

  • Ivory

  • Oxygen tanks

Movers / Moving Companies

We can interview up to three (3) local moving companies on your behalf and make a recommendation. You are responsible for making the final selection and reviewing and signing any contracts with your chosen company yourself. All payments to the moving are paid directly by you. After you have executed the necessary paperwork with the chosen moving company, Serene Transitions will contact the moving company to schedule, coordinate, and oversee the entire move from start to finish.

Junk Haulers

Serene Transitions subcontracts with a variety of junk haulers. To expedite the junk removal process from a home, we will pay the junk hauler directly and submit the receipts to the client for reimbursement. Payment of invoices are due upon receipt.

Indemnity

You hereby indemnify the Company and undertake to keep the Company indemnified against any losses, damages, costs, liabilities, and expenses (including without limitation legal expenses and any amounts paid by the Company to a third party in settlement of a claim or dispute on the advice of the Company’s legal advisers) incurred or suffered by the Company arising out of any breach by you of any provision of these terms of service, or arising out of any claim that you have breached any provision of these terms of service.
